OP-AA-105-101 — Administrative Process for NRC License and Medical Requirements
Purpose
Administrative procedure governing NRC licensed operator license administration, including medical examination requirements, NRC Form 396 restrictions, and license condition verification.
Key Requirements
NRC Form 396 — Medical Restrictions:
- All medical restrictions listed on the NRC Form 396 must be satisfied when performing licensed duties
- Common restrictions include corrective lenses, hearing aids, and medication compliance
- An operator who cannot meet a medical restriction at the time of assuming licensed duties is NOT qualified to stand watch
JPM — 2020 RO-A2
Active license medical verification: RO #2 has an NRC Form 396 restriction requiring corrective lenses for licensed duties but stated he left his prescription eyeglasses at home — RO #2 is NOT qualified. RO #3 has a medication restriction and stated he has his medication and has taken the prescribed dosage — RO #3 IS qualified. Used in conjunction with OP-AA-105-102 for shift hour requirements check.
