AB.CONT-0001 — Containment Closure
⚠️ DRAFT — Reconstructed from exam materials
Purpose
Provides guidance for establishing containment closure during shutdown conditions when containment integrity is required but not maintained (e.g., during outages with open penetrations).
Key Actions / Information
Exam — 2018 Q84
AB.CONT-0001 containment closure timing depends on the initiating event:- Loss of RHR or Fuel Handling Incident: Containment Closure should be established prior to Core Boiling
- Other initiating events: Containment Closure should be established within four hours
Outage Equipment Hatch closure method also depends on the event:
- Loss of RHR: may close using 4 corner bolts per AB.CONT-0001
- Other events: install using ALL 10 bolts per SC.MD-FR.CAN-0001
Trap: candidates may confuse the 4-corner-bolt expedited closure (Loss of RHR) with the full 10-bolt installation (non-RHR events). The 4-bolt option exists because time to core boiling may be limited during a Loss of RHR.
