S1.OP-SO.WL-0001 — Release of Radioactive Liquid Waste

⚠️ DRAFT

S1.OP-SO.WL-0001 — Release of Radioactive Liquid Waste

Purpose

Provides direction for release of radioactive liquid waste from CVCS Monitor Tanks through the CC Heat Exchanger and CW system discharge path.

Key Actions / Information

Exam — 2023 Q61
Only one circulator is required to be in service to allow a liquid release to continue. The 1R18 radiation monitor does not isolate or close the 1WL51 overboard valve on loss of flow. Loss of one circulator does not automatically terminate the release.
JPM — 2020 IP-k
Place 11 CVCS Monitor Tank in recirculation per Section 5.1: valve lineup per Attachment 1 (11WR27 OPEN, 11WR31 OPEN, 12WR27 CLOSED, 12WR31 CLOSED). Start 11 MT Pump, throttle 11WR53 (MT RECIRC V) to maintain 80 psig discharge pressure. Calculate minimum recirculation time: tank at 90% = 19500 gallons (from S1.OP-TM.ZZ-0002, Page 8). Formula: (Volume x 3) / 150 gpm = 6 Hrs 30 Min (band: 6 Hr 20 Min to 6 Hr 40 Min). Any additions to the tank during recirculation invalidate sample analysis — requires additional recirculation and re-sampling.
